GUANACASTE REGION

In recent years, Costa Rica has begun to experience an influx of foreign investors looking for vacation, semi-retirement and investment properties in this magnificent country.  The simple fact is that with the aging of Americans and the baby boom generation starting to reach early retirement years they are buying vacation and second homes everywhere in the United States in record numbers especially bordering the coasts.

The simple fact is that almost every bit of coastline property World Wide is becoming overcrowded and overpriced.  This scarcity of ocean front property has contributed to the high level of interest in Costa Rica because it offers beautiful property in a safe, democratic country that recognizes ownership rights just like in the United States.

The Guanacaste Region or “Gold Coast” as it is often referred to offers some of the best value and opportunities in Real Estate in Costa Rica.  A recent New York Times article discusses how the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica is becoming “transformed by all the recent real estate developments” which includes a number of major hotel resorts.  Some of the most prestigious high-end hotels are starting to discover this jewel part of Costa Rica and have built or are building beach resorts in the Guanacaste region.  The Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Marriot and Barcelo Melia just to name a few.

The nearby airport of Liberia only started direct flights three years ago with 50,000 people while in 2005 that number has increased to over 300,000.  The exposure that the Guanacaste region and Costa Rica has received recently is only the beginning and will continue for the near future.

The Guanacaste Region while offering an excellent opportunity as a Real Estate investment, it also provides all that Costa Rica has to offer in beauty, pristine beaches and activities.  Nearby you have the Flamingo Marina that is undergoing renovations and offers World Class SportFishing, Boating, Scuba Diving and Snorkeling excursions.  This region also has excellent golfing in nearby Playa Conchal and Hacienda Pinnella.    The towns of nearby Tamarindo and Flamingo have excellent local and international restaurants and nightlife.  The Guanacaste Region has the only campus for the Internationally recognized Country Day School outside of the San Jose area.  The Country Day School has students from all over the world who attend k-12 and is taught in English while Spanish is also learned as a language.  This campus also offers boarding for students.

The beauty, the culture, the sense of community and the investment opportunity in Real Estate make the Guanacaste Region “The Gold Coast.” The Real Estate boom in this area is still in the beginning stages and offers you an opportunity to position yourself in this region before the demand starts to outpace the supply of Real Estate for sale.  If you are a visionary we believe Costa Rica Real estate has a lot of similarity to what happened in California and Hawaii 30 years Ago.
