ABOUT COSTA RICA

Stability Costa Rica is the most stable democratic government in the region. It has the longest standing democracy in all of Central and South America.  The army was abolished in 1948 and to this day has no standing army.  The new current President of Costa Rica, Oscar Arias who was the President in the mid 1980’s was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987.  Many tens of thousands of foreigners, including a large North American community have chosen this country as a retirement haven, vacation hot spot and a place to raise their family in tranquility and prosperity.

Access: With two international airports one in Liberia located in the Guanacaste region in the North Pacific and the Capital city of San Jose.  It is conveniently located to the United States and is under a 5 hour flight from New York and only a little over two hours from Miami.  All of the major carriers such as Delta, Continental, American, and United all over direct flights to both airports daily.

Cost of living:  Taxes are very low, real estate taxes are ¼ of one percent, foreign income is not taxed and services are much less expensive than in most parts of the world. Costa Rica as a country provides all the modern conveniences of home while allowing you to feel you are a world away.  It also boasts excellent medical care with one of the highest life spans in the world.

Climate:  Costa Rica enjoys a tropical warm weather all year-round. Its summer and hottest months are December through May and its winter or rainy season is August through October. The Guanacaste region however has the warmest and driest climate of the country.

Natural Wonders: Costa Rica is best known around the world for its amazing biodiversity and protected land (where over 1/3 of its land is deemed as natural forest).  Its has active volcanoes, white water rafting, over 80 species of birds and exotic wildlife seen only on the discovery channel.   Everywhere you go in Costa Rica, you will discover the richness and beauty of its landscapes that have made it the ultimate destination for ecotourism.

The Country: Sport Fishing is world renowned in Costa Rica as is its surfing, tropical rainforest, volcanoes, hiking, bird watching and recently golfing.  The Guanacaste region located in the North Pacific or “gold coast” as it is commonly referred to has its share of major beach front and beachside developments while still providing the tranquil atmosphere.  The Guanacaste region offers both the eco-side of Costa Rica but still provides nightlife of restaurants and shops in both nearby Flamingo and Tamarindo. However, to appreciate what Costa Rica has to offer, it’s pleasant year round climate, its lush green mountains and forest along with the white pristine beaches you will have to come and experience for yourself.
